WBLK/McDonald’s Campus Care Program

With the major concerns spreading throughout college campuses in the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy, campus care is something that we should not only inform our students about, but our Western New York community as a whole.  The safety of our kids and our community is priceless, and we can never be too informed.  With the WBLK/McDonald’s Campus Care Program, we will visit local colleges in the Buffalo area, work with the colleges, and inform the students of the care and safety that their campuses are offering to help make their college experience truly the best years of their lives.  By talking about the various activities throughout the Buffalo community that are not only safe, but fun and involved, we will reach the students, speaking to them on their level.  In partnership with the local colleges, we feel that the care of the community is a precious thing, and we want to do our part to keep it that way.

Visiting one college campus a month, WBLK will run promos throughout the month, highlighting that month’s campus.  While at that month’s highlighted campus, we will have various activities relating to campus care and safety.  Each campus will have 3rd degree black belt Tae Kwon-Do instructor Todd Patterson there to help us demonstrate different self-defense techniques.

We will hold Jr. Seminars once a month, touching a specific issue like self-defense, financial health, personal health, and off-campus safety.  There will also be a table set up with one of our WBLK staff present, handing out information to students, along with lists of campus programs that their college offers.  Using these mediums to reach the college students, we will be able to give them a different way of understanding how important campus care really is.
